Front Porch Ideas With Paige

September 9, 2020

Nothing makes a first impression quite like your front porch. The place that welcomes you home first is also where you relax and enjoy the outdoors with family, friends, and by yourself. That’s why it’s so much fun to flex your creative muscles and add a personal touch to your porch!    In our latest “Trends With Paige,” we’re going through our talented designer coordinator’s trendiest tips and tricks for a front porch that makes a statement — and makes you feel good, whether you’re enjoying coffee in the morning or coming home from a trip. Take a look at a few ideas that Paige suggests for your porch:

Front Porch Decorating Ideas

Small and Inviting: Have a small porch? Use a two-seat bench or small bistro table and chairs to decorate. Keep the color palette simple and neutral. Add a few lush plants and throw in some pillows to create a chic, layered look.   Small and cozy   Comfy Cozy: Adding a wicker or wood sofa with soft cushions, lots of throw pillows, a rug, and some outdoor curtains makes for a truly cozy front porch! And don’t forget to add a couple of side chairs and accent tables so guests can join you and have a place to set their lemonade.    A Pop of Color: Sometimes all a front porch needs is a great front door color to bring it to life. Choose a color that complements your home’s exterior. If you need a little help, go to your local paint store. Most will have brochures with popular exterior and front door color pairings. Accessorize with a welcome door mat, a wreath, some potted plants, and lanterns to complete your fresh, new look.    Front Porch Decorating Ideas   A Southern Classic: A little southern tradition… paint the ceiling to match your front door or paint the porch floor to match your shutters! Add rocking chairs, front door exterior lights, hanging lights and ceiling fans for that classic southern charm.    Create a Theme: If decorating is not your thing, sometimes it helps to pick a theme. Whether it’s beachy, coastal, or boho chic, sticking to a certain theme will help you select your colors, furnishings, and accessories. Most furniture websites now use home decorating themes to help customers find just what they’re looking for.    Decorate on a Dime: Decorating your front porch doesn’ have to be expensive. Go antiquing and look for old crates, watering cans, or buckets to use as planters. Put a fresh coat of paint on that old bench or pair of chairs to use for seating. I personally love old doors and windows… hang or lean these as fun wall accessories!    Don’t Forget the Lights: A great way to add pops of positive energy to your porch is with string lights. And not just any string lights (like last year’s Christmas lights), but stylish lights with unique bulbs that are specifically made for the outdoors. This element will add just the right amount of sparkle to your front porch decor.    porch lightsWhether you choose one of our gorgeous move-in-ready homes in South Carolinaor decide tobuild the floor planof your dreams, our design coordinator, Paige, will ensure that your home suits your preferences perfectly.
